Strange Lusts

Ferrari Lust

Lust. Physical, but not always sexual. For that which we don’t have – and probably shouldn’t want. It grabs at our attention and lures us away from God.

From Prov 7:4-5

“Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman: That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.”

“But wait a minute there. How can a car flatter me with words?” Can bling sing? Good question. Is ‘Wow’ a word?

The false attraction of what is strange to us, things not ours to hold, can be tempting, but guard your heart (Prov 4:23) with wisdom and truth.

Good lesson. There are lots of ads on facebook for stuff we can’t really afford (cruises, etc.), or if we could, I’m sure there are better things we can be doing with the money (Matt. 25).

Thanks Rich, Those ads sure cry out to us (or is it me and my earthly wishes crying out to myself?) – Don’t tell Facebook or Amazon this, but I really hear a voice when a good book is advertised. Hope you’re staying contagious and courageous, my friend and brother!

Truly, there are some great Ligonier ads–I have bought some good books because of them. But those river cruises are most attractive–not that I could afford one, but if I look too long and hard, they become “strange lusts”.
